Read about Sandie
With 30+ years of industry experience, Sandie brings unmatched insight and compassion to every trip.
Sandie Grant is the owner of Ability Adventures and a highly experienced Occupational Therapist with over 30 years in the healthcare sector. She has spent more than two decades specialising as a clinical wheelchair and seating therapist, giving her deep insight into the real-life accessibility challenges many travellers face.
Sandie began her tour guiding journey at just 19, working for an environmental tour company during a summer break. Since then, she has combined her passion for travel with her clinical expertise—initially guiding with Eco Tours and later supporting Ability Adventures during peak seasons before taking ownership of the business.
A proud South Island native now based in the Bay of Plenty, Sandie loves exploring Aotearoa New Zealand with her family in their campervan. Tramping, skiing, and discovering hidden gems across the country continue to fuel her passion for accessible travel.
Sandie’s unique background means she doesn’t just understand accessibility—she lives and breathes it. She takes the time to build rapport with clients and carefully crafts every itinerary to meet individual needs. Her mission is to ensure that every traveller, regardless of ability, can experience the freedom, beauty, and adventure New Zealand has to offer—with confidence and peace of mind.

“I love showing people around our beautiful country. That and the challenge of designing holidays where a disability is not a hindrance or limiting factor, crafting itineraries to be fully accessible for each travelling group member.
As well as providing unforgettable accessible holidays for me as a New Zealander it is also about sharing our homeland, its stunning natural environment and importantly the value of adventure in our lives. I love seeing people of different abilities and ages getting out there enjoying travel just like everybody else.”
